The Great Reggae Singer Junior Murvin has passed from complications of Diabetes and Hypertension Monday at a Hospital in Jamaica according to the Jamaica Observer. Not to be confused with the Legendary Wailers Guitarist Junior Marvin. Murvin worked closely with legendary producer Lee "Scratch" Perry on his debut album, also titled "Police and Thieves," released on Island Records in 1977 Smashing the UK Singles Chart for 9 weeks. In the Late 60's Murvin sang covers of Curtis Mayfield songs and was later dubbed Junior Soul. "Police and Thieves" was released at a time when social & political tensions were boiling in Jamaica and Murvin his lyrics reflected that. Junior Murvin will be truly be missed by the world.
